Cinemas
Even while travelling you sometimes need a good movie
Commercial Cinemas
Edinburgh boasts some good cinemas, mostly linked to large chains. The closest to us is about a 5 minute walk, on Leith Walk, which is an Vue Cinema. It is located inside the Omni Centre and is all quite new. Ask at reception for details on how to get there. Here is a cinema guide.
Alternative Cinema
Edinburgh is lucky to have some great alternative cinemas. The Filmhouse, on Lothian Rd, is the best, with 3 screens, and a constantly changing roster of foreign and arthouse movies. The Cameo also shows many arthouse and cult films, including midnight screenings.
Theatre
Even better, though, is theatre, and Edinburgh has some great theatres, and lots of great shows. The Kings, Festival, Playhouse, Queens, Royal Lyceum, Traverse and many smaller theatres show some incredible shows that are well worth visiting.
