Money Changing

Currency
Scotlands currency is ponds sterling. We use the same money as England and Northern Ireland, so your English banknotes are ok up here. There are 3 banks printing currency in Scotland, so in addition with the 2 for Northern Ireland, and the Bank of England, you can end up with 6 different types of notes! Its a bit confusing at first. Coins are the same all over.
Travellers Cheques, Credit Cards?
We accept Travellers Cheques in Pounds Sterling as well as Visa, Mastercard, Eurocard, Switch and Solo cards. Sorry, but Diners Club and American Express cannot be accepted. These can all be used to pay your rent, but not for the shop, internet etc.
Bureau de Change
There are Thomas Cook, American Express and independant Bureau de Changes close by, just ask reception where they are. Cash machines are all around us too. Be careful, there are no Bureau de Changes open after business hours around here for some reason, so make sure you organise some cash before your arrival.
